After observing a few samples from rose petals to mud from the Badlands Nature preserve, I though the skeletal muscle sample given in the kit was most vibrant. I have always been interested in anatomy, and though it is unclear where exactly the muscle was extracted from, the color and properties of the sample stuck out to me. Especially as an avid runner, observing a skeletal muscle firsthand was a great opportunity because of its integral importance in the sport. I enjoy the photo the most because it is very sharp and illustrates the essence of a skeletal muscle even though it has lost its ability to react to stimuli. The pink stain of the muscle allowed me to see it with more clarity. Ultimately, it was fascinating to be able to hypothesize where and how this skeletal muscle could function in the body of its origin.
