This is a photo of the central thorax of a presumed ant taken with a foldoscope connected to a digital camera. The sample was scooped from the water of the Caltech Turtle ponds the afternoon of 4/11/2019. From the number of legs we know the animal is an insect within the following classification: Eukarya>Animalia>Euarthopoda>Pancrustacea>Hexapoda>Insecta. However I was uncertain of the species due to the constrained 2D view given by the foldoscope.
