Main

The images show several roughly sphere-shaped grains of pollen from a California Poppy Plant. The two images were taken under different lighting, the first illuminated with LED flashlight and the second with a desk lamp. The sample was obtained at 11:00 PM on 5/9/2019 from the cluster of poppy flowers near Lloyd and Ruddock house (as shown in 3rd picture). I removed several anthers from a poppy flower, and smeared it on a glass slide to deposit the pollen. Then I put a cover slip over the deposited pollen grains. The pictures were taken with a S5 Galaxy and Foldscope lens.
The plant species of the pollen is Eschscholzia californica (common name: California Poppy), in the family Papaveraceae. #caltechbi1
