Image of the pollen sample under a foldscope. Here you can see some yellow circular pollen grains scattered throughout the image.
The sample was collected from flowers located at the back entrance of Lloyd next to Ruddock. The pollen was collected at 1:00 pm on May 9th. The sample was acquired by carefully shaking the flower over a slide. How can flowers differentiate their species’ pollen grains? Are different pollen grains structurally distinct from each other? To answer these questions, I would take samples of multiple different flower species. I would also compare the pollen of related species to see if/how pollen changes during speciation. #caltechbi1
