Bougainvillea vine petal intact before being sampled from. Sample (whole flower) was obtained outside the East Bridge building at Caltech (1200 E. California Blvd, Pasadena, CA) at 8:15pm PST. The flower was plucked from the vine, and a part of its petal was torn off manually and analyzed.

The overall composition of the flower petal is pink and papery. There are darkly colored pink specks throughout the pink petal, which are a part of the petal’s delicate veins.
