Trichomes
: Glandular and covering type. Glandular hairs have a short stalk of single and head of about eight cells
Cortex
: 4 to 6 layers of cells. Collenchyma occupying the whole inner space of the bulges. Chloroplasts are found in the critical cells expecting the Collenchyma. Cystoliths are present. Calcium oxalate crystals are also present.
Endodermis
: Distinct and follows by single layer of pericycle.
Pericycle
: Small thin walled cells. Some are thick walled and lignified in older stems
Secondary Xylem
: Consist of lignified trachea, tracheids, fibres and few vessels. Xylem fibres are pitted elongated and moderately thickened.
Secondary phloem
: Consist of sieve tubes, companion cells and phloem parenchyma
