This is a seed collected from excrements from a Sowell’s Short-tailed Bat (Carollia sowelli) at a site in the Selva Lacandona in Chiapas, Mexico. This particular bat species has a wide distribution ranging from Mexico to Panama and is mostly found in secondary forest areas where it feeds on fruits of Piper and Cecropia.
