 This is my right-hand microbiome. In my Biology class, we cultured the microorganisms from our right and left hands and our right and left feet on petri dishes. A few days later, we observed colony growth on our dishes – mine had 2-3 different types of microorganisms, and were clustered in small colonies. I noticed that my right hand had a lot more colonies than did my left hand, probably because I had just touched my phone with my right hand (I am right-handed). Curious about what my right-hand microbiome looked like, I decided to swab a colony onto a slide (dry mount), and observed the colony through my Foldscope. Surprisingly, my right-hand microbiome doesn’t look particularly scary! Observing through my Foldscope, the microbiome looks colorless and viscous.
