My name is Josh Marks. I am a senior at Vista del Lago High School student. From a young age, I realized that the wonders of our cosmos must be seen firsthand. Books, tests, formulas, notes, can help us to get a logical sense of the world, but our creative, intuitive senses must be grown with experience. For me, this means that the classroom is life itself. Foldscope enables me to journey through our universe with my own eyes, to see the cohesive forces of water, the mitosis of cells, is truly remarkable.

Hello everyone,
I am super excited and grateful for having received some Foldscopes today! After constructing one, I eagerly zoomed into the microcosm of plants.
The above picture was a sample of a leaf from a manzanita (Genus Arctostaphylos). What are the darker pigmented spots? I thought they were the organelles, possibly the chloroplasts.
