The Director, Directorate of School Education, Puducherry directed the teachers of various government schools to initiate proposals to participate in this Foldscope Science Research Project, out of which our school Artchouna Soupraya Naikar, Government. Middle School, Mudaliarpet, Puducherry got shortlisted, and Mr.D.Aravindaraja, Teacher – Principal Investigator of the same school was nominated to attend the National Training on Foldscope Science Project at International Centre for Genetic Engineering And Biotechnology (ICGEB), Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, near Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, conducted by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
After the training being attended, Foldscope Project is to be successfully started up in Artchouna Soupraya Naikar, Govt. Middle School, Mudaliarpet, Puducherry with an inaugural function with the following agenda:
Thiru.K.Rajendiran welcomed all. Deputy Director of School Education (Women) Thiru. Vetrivel inaugurated the Foldscope Function. Headmaster Tmt.N.Kala Feliciatated during the Programme. Thiru.D.Aravindaraja delivered the Keynote Address. Thiru.R.Selvaganapathy Thanked Everyone.
More than 350 students, 20 Teachers, school staffs, Parents and Public participated and known the functions of Foldscope.
Initially 20 students were divided into 5 groups and they were taught by the Principal investigator regarding how to assemble the foldscope. within 30 Minutes of time they constructed 5 Foldscopes and Prepared their slides to view. They viewed Bone Marrow cell a Honeybee Wing and the Microorganisms present in water.
