Palkhi (palanquin) to Pandharpur a 700-800 years old tradition helps an individual by bringing good health, peace & prosperity in his life. More than 10 lakhs of people (farmers) walk for 22 days to reach the destination. On this occasion the PI and the students of Vidya Pratishthan’s School of Biotechnology, Arts Science and Commerce College interacted with the Warkaris and explained the concept of Foldscope – microscope in every pocket . The objective for use of Foldscope was to create awareness among the warkaris regarding personal cleanliness and showcase the slides of probable pathogenic microorganisms present in the water. During this drive of Swachhata Abhiyan the PI could reach more than 10,000 people. The warkaris were fascinated and were eager to know more details and use of the Foldscope for varied applications. The PI received many suggestions with respect to the innovative idea of Foldscope assembly and the possibility of popularization of the Foldscope to each and every individual of the society to explore and experience the nature’s beauty.
