This is a picture of an Aster petal collected by the students of Ekya School , J.P.Nagar , Bangalore. We went on a field trip to Lalbagh at Bangalore. We collected many samples and one among the many of those samples is this aster petal. Aster belongs to the kingdom o f Plantae and the family of Asteraceae. Aster are commonly known as Starworts or Frost Flowers. This flower is chiefly found in North America and some species are also found in South America. Most asters are perennials, but a few are also annuals and biennials. Many species of aster are drought resistant. Its scientific name is Symphyotrichum. Asters are a prime target for birds, bees and butterflies as they are very fragrant.
