Malvaviscus penduliflorus commonly known as Red turk’s cap belongs to the family Malvaceae. The petals are red in colour due to the presence of the pigment anthocyanin. This bright colour of petals attract the insects for pollination.
The petal cells when observed under the foldscope showed spherical cells with little intercellular spaces.
