Petal cells of Red turk’s cap

Malvaviscus penduliflorus commonly known as Red turk’s cap belongs to the family Malvaceae.The petals are red in colour due to the presence of the pigment anthocyanin. This bright colour of petals attract  the insects  for pollination.

The petal cells when observed under the foldscope showed spherical cells with little intercellular spaces.
