Main
The multicolored Asian lady beetle, also known as Harmonia axyridis, is a common insect. The multicolored Asian lady beetle is a convex, shortened oval shape. The colour of adult ranges from orange to red with zero to 19 spots. Larvae are usually black or grey and usually have tiny flexible spike (non-stinging) on their backs. Their body is elongate, somewhat flattened, and “alligator shaped.” Cannibalism plays a role in this beetle species. If they don’t find prey, they will start eating each other or other beetle species. Generally, it’s a important predator that feed on aphids and other soft-bodied insects that dwell on trees. Considered a pest to fruit production and processing.
