I am a Medical Doctor in Kerala Health Services Department. Now, I am on deputation to Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) (GOI - DBT), Trivandrum, Kerala as Research Scientist (Epidemiology). My personal interest is in Leptospirosis and Typhus. I also work closely with other scientists who study Influenza, Measles, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Dengue, Chikungunya, Malaria and Non-communicable diseases.

That is its beauty. Foldscope was introduced to children attending the Regional Children’s Science Congress – 2018 from 12 th to 16 th November 2018 at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The congress was organized by Navodaya Vidyalaya Sam

Listening to the principles of Microscopy. ithi, Department of Education & Literacy, Ministry of H. R. D., Government of India. As part of the program, the children visited the Research Laboratory of Dr. Sabu Thomas, PhD, Scientist E-II. 80 children used this opportunity to see microscopic slides through the foldscope. Dr. Iype Joseph, Research Scientist (Epidemiology) explained the principles of microscopy and demonstrated the use of Foldscope. Every child viewed an image through the Foldscope. In addition, the children also saw other activities in the lab, like microbial culture, water quality testing and bio-safety cabinets.
