Bihar hairy caterpillar, Spilarctia oblique Walker is a polyphagous pest which infests several crops including Mulberry. The fully grown caterpillar larva is stout and cylindrical, brown at initial stage and later reddish in colour, the head of the larva was dark brown and conspicuous dark anterior and posterior patches of the larva. The larvae had dense hairs on its body.
