Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Sathyabama Institute of Science and technology has organized Science awareness program on ‘Foldscope Microscope assembly and usage for the School students’ funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India on 17-07-2018 at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Thuraipakkam, Chennai.
To popularize the foldscope microscope to school students, the science awareness program was organized for the Thuraipakkam Govt. Hr.Sec. School, Chennai. School students are excited and enjoyed the flavor of science by seeing the biological samples (Micro-organisms from hands, Onion peal cells, Blood cells, Heart muscle cells, Root tip cells, Cross section of leaf, Earthworm tissues and blood vessels) with the foldscope microscope.
In addition, students understood the seriousness of washing their hands as they have experienced practically that their hands contain tons of micro-organism if hands are not washed properly. Apart from the students, class teachers and the headmaster of the school, delighted on seeing the cheap, paper foldscope microscope as the quality of the image captured by the mobile camera is more clear and fantastic when compared with conventional microscopes.
