 In this image, we can see an image of what is supposed to be algae from the turtle pond. The black spots were the parts that were actually swimming around when I looked through the foldscope. This sample was obtained from the turtle pond on April 18th, 2019 at approximately 4pm with a plastic cup from Chandler Cafe. The cup was lowered into the pond and used to collect water with algae. The algae water was placed on a slide for later viewing.


 Questions about my picture: In this specific picture, which was the only picture that worked on my phone, I notice that I can’t clearly identify algae. Why is this?


 My answer to my question: Looking back, increasing magnification on the foldscope would’ve helped make the picture clearer.

 This orange petal, likely from an orange hibiscus, was retrieved from the Avery Garden (Caltech) at approximately 7:40 on May 31st, 2019. The flower was removed from its stem and the petal was removed from the rest of the flower and placed on a slide for observation.

 verbena bonariensis
 
 was retrieved at around 7:30 p.m. on May 31st, 2019. The sample was obtained by rubbing pollen from the flower that was retrieved on a slide.

 This is the photo of pollen, seen scattered across the slide. This pollen was retrieved from a red rose outside of Avery (Caltech) at approximately 7:40 pm on May 31st, 2019. The pollen was taken from a red rose and rubbed onto a slide for later observation.

 This flower petal was retrieved from a pink rose outside of Milikan pond (Caltech) at approximately 7:45 pm. In this image, we can see the structure of the petal. The sample was retrieved by removing the petal from the flower and putting it on a slide for later observation.

 This pollen was retrieved from the yellow flower found outside of the housing office at Caltech at around 7:30 pm on May 31st, 2019. The pollen is almond shaped and can be seen clustered on one part of the slide. The sample was retrieved by rubbing the pollen on a slide for later observation.
