In the Exploring the Microcosm course at the Lodha Genius Program at Ashoka University, we used Foldscopes to look at pollen from flowers.

This activity let us see individual pollen grains that are usually too tiny to notice with our eyes. When we looked through the Foldscope, the pollen showed up as unique particles with clear shapes and structures. Different pollen samples had slight differences in size and look, showing the variety that exists even among flowers that seem similar.

Watching pollen helped us learn more about its role in how plants reproduce and how it moves between flowers. It also gave us a chance to examine a common part of plants up close and notice details we often miss.

This activity was a great way to start learning about pollen and showed us how simple tools like Foldscopes can help us explore plant structures on a much smaller level.
