On a walk in the morning at EMBL Hidelberg, saw some incredible wood fungus growing. It was cold and chilly - but also very beautiful.

I picked a small wood mushroom sample. The sample is too thick, so I tore a small piece and looked at what makes these structures. From the images, it’s clear that the structure is made with fiber like mycelium structures. It looks like they are woven - and this weaving is what provides it the strength. Curious and excited to dive in more.
