Observing fern rhizomes through the foldscope at 50x & 340x.

Slide: I used the slide of the fern rhizome that came with foldscope. I put it in the foldscope and then observed it!

Method: First step is to open the back latch (its held in place using magnets) and then I put the slide in it and closed the latch. Then, I put the 50x and 340x lens one by one.

Observations: On 50x, I was able to see almost the entire cross-section of the rhizome. there were a lot of darker cells in the center, surrounded by some more lighter (pinkish-purplish) cells. then, there was a thick layer of darker-colored cells at the outside. Then there were some more pinkish cells. the remaining empty spaces were surrounded by some bluish color substance (it is probably caused by the stain).

This was my first observation through the foldscope and I was quite happy with the outcome!
