Microscopy and disease identification has always been a problem for the majority of the world. I always feel that even though microscopes were invented almost four hundred years ago, they have not become something as prevalent as such a young invention as a mobile phone. I feel that most diseases could have been prevented if people in both rural and urban areas were educated and sight-aware of diseases that orbit around us. I myself felt that such education was futile due to the prevalence of microscopes being used as doorstops in rural areas until I found out about Foldscopes at a workshop in 2020. Since then, I have never looked back and I use the Foldscope over my home compound microscope due to the Foldscope's ease of transport and resolution. These are pictures that I took of onion cells and the default fern rhizome that were given with the Foldscope. 50x shots
This onion sample is my favorite as it allows me to see the onion cells in high definition!
This fern rhizome has to be my favorite sample, but not my favorite shot. I just love the stain! 140x shots
This is the zoomed- in part of the previous 50x onion shot. I think that cytoplasm is visible. 340x shots
This is my one good 340x shot of an onion peel.
