I did not end my Foldscope observations after the Exploring the Microcosm course was completed at Ashoka. Rather, I continued my observations and would like to post them here. I took all of the microscopic shots on my Foldscope 2.0 .
This is a photo of an odd biofilm that I found in a puddle in Ashoka. I am uncertain whether it is a type of algae or slime mould due to the pattern and color of the growth. I collected some and made an Eppendorf tube culture of it, so as to be able to observe it further later.
Due to the sample seeming to thrive in sunlight, I made a special eppendorf holder out of an origami water-bomb, so as to allow for the sample to survive and grow.
These are some microscopic photos of the same sample:
p.s I do not know what this organism is, as I have never seen it before, any identification would be appreciated.
I went on a field trip around a week back, and I had the good fortune to be able to examine meteoritic fragments under the microscope.
This is a picture of my sample and the meteorite:
And these are pictures of the meteoritic fragments under the microscope:
My Foldscope mentor Anupma ma’am also gave me a fungal slide to view. These are some shots of the following.
In the bottom right of both shots you can see the blurry structure of fungal spores.
