A potato was the last thing I expected to look cool under the foldscope but the moment I looked through the lens the potato stopped looking like food. At 50X magnification, the starch looked like glowing dots scattered everywhere, almost like stars in a night sky. The potato peel at 50x looked rough and layered. At 140x, the starch granules started becoming clearer and way more interesting. They looked like tiny crystals. At 340x magnification, everything became sharper. The granules looked smooth and shiny. The more I looked at it , the less it felt like I was looking at a potato and the more it felt like I was exploring a microscopic world. What made this observation fun wasn’t just the science it was the realization that ordinary things are secretly complex. A potato seems boring until you actually look closer. Under the foldscope, it turned into glowing structures and tiny details I never would have imagined were there. It honestly made me want to put everything under the foldscope just to see what the average human eye misses.
