Looking at the fern from under the foldscope was honestly really cool because it is really hard to believe that something that looks so simple is actually so complex. At 50X i could see the veins and overall pattern of the leaf, at 140X the texture and tiny plant cells became more visible and at 340X I could clearly notice how thick the cell walls were and how tightly packed the cells were. The most interesting part was realizing how much is hidden in the plants we see everyday.Things that look so plain to us actually have so much structure and detail when viewed closely. The fern looked like a tiny maze under the foldscope. Another interesting observation is how the fern changed appearance with each magnification. This made me curious about how samples of other plants will look under the foldscope. In retrospect, next time i want to take a thinner sample so that my image is clearer but overall I really enjoyed preparing the samples and I'm excited to prepare more samples! -Mihika Bharath(LGP26)
