Today was my first day in the Exploring the Microcosm course, and it was a completely new experience for me. Until now, I had only seen pictures of cells and microscopic structures in books, but today I got the opportunity to observe them myself using a Foldscope . At first, I was curious about how such a small paper microscope could reveal an invisible world. It took some time to adjust the focus and understand how to observe the samples properly, but once I got a clear view, I was amazed.

The first sample I observed was a fern rhizome . What looked like an ordinary plant part to the naked eye revealed fascinating structures when viewed through different magnifications. As I increased the magnification, more details became visible, and I realized how much information is hidden inside even the simplest living things.

Later, I observed an onion peel. I had seen onions countless times in daily life, but I had never imagined that a thin transparent layer could contain such a beautiful and organized arrangement of cells. Looking through the Foldscope felt like entering a tiny hidden world that exists all around us but usually goes unnoticed.
One thing I learned today is that science is not only about reading facts from textbooks it is also about observing, questioning, and discovering things for yourself. Even preparing the samples carefully taught me that small details matter a lot in scientific observation . There were moments when the image became blurry or difficult to focus, but that made the experience even more exciting because every clear image felt like a small achievement .🌟🌟

By the end of the session, I was no longer looking at a fern rhizome or an onion peel in the usual way. I was looking at them as miniature worlds full of structure, organization, and beauty. This first day made me even more curious about what other hidden wonders I will discover during the rest of the Exploring the Microcosm course . 🔬✨
............ Using the Foldscope felt like becoming a mini-explorer for a day.😄 Today, I don't just observe a sample through a Foldscope I discovered a hidden world that exists all around us but often goes unnoticed.
