ITS SCIENTIFIC NAME IS SCHIMA WALLICHII , LOCALLY KNOWN IN SIKKIM BY CHILAUNE.
This tree is also known for its beautiful flower which is
white, fragrant, 3-4 cm across. Sepals rounded. Five white petals are broadly ovate and rounded. There is a dense bunch of orange-yellow stamens in the center.
The astringent corollas are used to treat uterine disorders and hysteria, leaves are used in different treatment for control of pathogens and also fodder for animal.
Flowering is in April-May.
