This pollen sample was obtained in the garden outside of Gates Parsons, on the Caltech campus, at 11:00pm, May 10th, 2019. It was obtained by plucking a flower from the ground and then rubbing the stamen onto the slide. The slide was then inserted into the foldscope, and a light was shined through the back to allow for observation. In the image several dark spots can be seen, these are the pollen.
Given the appearance of the plant and (although the image is not very sharp) the shape of the pollen, the plant species is most likely to be Horkelia parrys, a small, white flower commonly found in Southern California.
