I found the entire skin of a garter snake in the yard. Here is a scary-looking picture of the skin. Even though the snake had long left the area, It was a bit scary picking it up. You can see even his eye was covered in the keratin “scales”
Here is another picture…I thought it looked a bit as though he was smiling here.
Here is an image of part of the tail
And on the left here you can see the margin of the eye “scale”.
