During a farmers field survey, a disease was found infecting cucumber in polyhouse and the symptoms were resembling collar rot caused by several fungi especially those from the oomycete group. No need to mention the problem was of utmost concern to the farmer as crop in the polyhouse is of paramount importance.

stained mycelium and macroconidia of Fusarium Slides from the mycelia present on the collar region were prepared onsight and examined under foldscope. A large number of crescent-shaped macroconidia of Fusarium were visible under foldscope. Thus, the disease was identified as Fusarium Stem and root rot of cucumber caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis cucumerinum. Based on diagnosis possible management options were discussed and recommended to the farmer to safeguard the crop from further deterioration.
