Fabrics when in mist state are exposed to fungi. The fungi development can be seen using foldscope. fungi damages and ruptures the fiber structure thus leading to weakening of fibers.

We used foldscope to view the structure of fabric and interestingly a single strand of fabric seemed like a complex structure under the foldscope.

Through foldscope we can observe how clean and unclean fabrics look at microscopic level. We have created slides of clean synthetic fabric and unwashed synthetic fabric and viewed them under foldscope.

Unclean synthetic fibre observed under foldscope Even though the synthetic fabric appeared clean but under foldscope one could observe the dirt accumulated inside and between the strands of the fabric. This gives us an insight for necessity of washing clothes on regular basis and in a hygienic method.
