From the Sam sand dunes west of Jaisalmer in the Thar desert of India. The sand was very fine and silky smooth to the touch, very hard to get out of shoes. I love the way it is composed of so many colored grains when seen in the foldscope, though the overall appearance of the dunes is one of “sand” color.
