I am thrilled to share details of a really fun “social-microscopy” event we ran at Stanford university - in collaboration with Stanford Art Institute.

This was possible since Manu, Aaron and Hideo have been talk about bringing Art Institute members and scientists on campus together - in informal ways.

As a foldscope community, we pride ourselves for bringing microscopy in surprising places. I remember a time when Mo Pandorajan brought foldscope to a wedding, when Mohammad in Iraq brought foldscope to a a cycle repair shop - and so forth. The joy of a genuine surprise drives curiosity and we observed this first hand at this event - right under stair cases.

I will write a longer post on what we have seen over the years and how to run your own “pop-up microscopy” session. We would love for this framework to spread.

More soon.
Cheers
Manu
