Hey folks, here’s a post about my journey in the Himalayas with Foldscope. Follow me on Twitter and Researchgate to know more.
I had planned another journey to the Himalayas for this year-end hoping to discover microorganisms and Tardigrade during the winter. I was planning to visit Kedarkantha in Uttarakhand, India.
Unfortunately due to a serious medical issue, I had to return back. Although I did find a school at an altitude of 6,455 ft in a place called Sankri (31.0781° N, 78.1842° E). The school remains open even during the winters and the temperature ranges around 10°C~15°C in the morning and -10°C~-5°C during the night. I was fascinated about how children go to school even in such harsh temperature fluctuations.
It would be really wonderful if they’re introduced with Foldscopes. The kids will definitely be thrilled to discover microcosmos world.
Maybe if anyone of the Foldscope community members in the vicinity can visit the place if time permits. Science and Microscopy for all!!!
Cheers,
Tardigrade Hunter….
