Hey folks, here’s a post about my journey in the Himalayas with Foldscope. Follow me on Twitter and Researchgate to know more.
Lets continue…
The last place that we reached was Pangong Tso lake , at a height of about 4,350 m. 60% of the lake’s length lies in China. This lake lies in the Indo-China border. The temperature was around 1~2 degree celsius, and we were not allowed to go into the water as well. In addition, we didn’t find lichen growth anywhere either.
Pangong Tso is still a delicate border point along the Line of Actual Control. Incursions from the Chinese side are common. An Inner Line Permit is required to visit the lake as it lies on the Sino-Indian Line of Actual Control. While Indian nationals can get permits, others must have group permits (with a minimum of three persons) accompanied by an accredited guide; the tourist office in Leh issues the permits for a small fee. For security reasons, India does not let any activity inside the lake.
