On 28 February 2019, ICAR–National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (ICAR–NBAIR), Bengaluru, and ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region (ICAR RCNEHR), Umiam, jointly organised a workshop for B.Sc. (CBZ) students at BGS Science Academy and Research Center in Chikkaballapura, Karnataka. Over 370 students attended the National Science Day celebrations, out which 150 students participated in the Foldscope workshop. They learnt about various aspects of the Foldscope, including its assembly, sample collection, slide preparation, visualisation and capturing images with a smartphone. Specimens of minute insects, mites and plant tissues drew their attention. Dr Prakya Sreerama Kumar (Principal Scientist, ICAR–NBAIR), Dr R. Krishnappa (Scientist, ICAR RCNEHR) and Ms H.N. Roja (Junior Research Fellow, ICAR–NBAIR) conducted the proceedings. Dr N. Shivaram Reddy (CAO), Dr N. Madhusudhan (Dean), Mr H.B. Ramesh (Principal) were present during the workshop.
