This is a microscopic view of the unusually oblong and yellow pollen of the daylily. This pollen in particular was so yellow that it almost stained the foldscope slide.
The daylily from which this sample of pollen was taken, who ordinarily lives south of the Beckman Behavioral Biology building at Caltech in Pasadena, CA. One pollen-covered stamen was removed from the flower on 5/31/2019 at 5pm. Its pollen was collected in a drop of water and put in the foldscope to acquire the first image in this post #caltechbi1
