I am a faculty at Stanford and run the Prakash Lab at Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Foldscope community is at the heart of our Frugal Science movement - and I can not tell you how proud I am of this community and grassroots movement. Friends from Latin America,
After a month of planning; Team Foldscope is off to Latin America. This has been a long time coming; with partners around the world. It just took us some time to gather together the resources to make a big trip (thanks for all the support). In this first round, we will run workshops in Peru, Argentina and Brazil. Please track the progress of the trip here – we will be in Southern Peru (July 14-22); Lima (July22-29); off to Argentina (July 29-August 2) and in Brazil from August 2-14.
I will update this post with exact events, workshops and conferences. If you are from the region and want to engage; send us a comment down below and we will try to include you in some of the workshops. Very excited for the first trip to Latin America by the team and we can not wait to bring frugal science and Foldscope to communities far and wide.
Thanks to Moore Foundation Amazonia team for an incredible group of connections that made this trip largely possible.
A quick video introduction to one of the locations we will be running workshops – Mamiraua Nature reserve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iDfxh4HDBs – we can’t wait to get our feet wet.
Cheers
Foldscope Team
Traveling members: Jim, Paula, Alice, Rebecca, Hazel
