I am a faculty at Stanford and run the Prakash Lab at Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Foldscope community is at the heart of our Frugal Science movement - and I can not tell you how proud I am of this community and grassroots movement. So many of you have taken a flight into San Francisco airport and wondered at this view from your airplane – a multi colored pallet of livig art. At first, it might not be obvious that it’s living art; the colors are so bright – it’s as if someone really put color in your pond.
Here are some pictures I took on my recent landing.
Now, I could just wonder about these colors or just get down and put some water from these ponds in my Foldscope and watch where does this color come from?
But I don’t want to do this alone; so I invite anyone in the area to join me. Please comment below and I will send out a message to anyone who has a Foldscope (or really want one) and we will choose a day/time and try to go sample the ponds collectively.
Let’s do some science collectively and solve this mystery of colored ponds. It’s no fun to read about it; when you can just do it. So if you want to join in on the adventure; please post a comment below with an interest to come. This will be a weekend activity.
To be continued..
