I am a faculty at Stanford and run the Prakash Lab at Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Foldscope community is at the heart of our Frugal Science movement - and I can not tell you how proud I am of this community and grassroots movement. This is a quick note I received from Mr Prem Sewak Sudhish (pss@alumni.stanford.edu) who visited my lab several months ago. Prem works on a number of issues including information technology usage in rural areas; and is affiliated with the Dayalbagh University (http://www.dei.ac.in/dei/). As part of university education; emphasis is placed on service as well.
The institute runs several schools in Tribal areas in India. I just received these pictures from one of the schools with a quick note from Mr Prem. The students will be sharing posts in the future.
Cheers
Manu
