Powdery mildew of cucurbits is caused by two fungus, Sphaerotheca fuliginea (syn. Podosphaera xanthii) and Erysiphe cichoracearum (syn. Golovinomyces cichoracearum). It is one of the most common diseases occurring in most of the cucurbitaceous crops.
