Question:
What will the Grasshopper feelers look like under 140x magnification?
Hypothesis:
The feelers will be long, brown and have sections.
Materials:
Tweezers, slide, test tube, tape, knife, Foldscope
Steps:
Materials were selected and the team searched for a grasshopper around the school grounds. A grasshopper was found and placed in a test tube. A knife was used to cut off the feelers. The feelers were attached to the slide using clear tape. The slide was placed on the Foldscope and the specimen was studied using a phone camera.
Conclusion:
Our hypothesis was mostly correct, but we observed new discoveries. The feelers were a mixture of colors (brown, yellow, and orange) which included many sections containing short and small hairs.
