Question:
Do the parts of a frog look different under a Foldscope?
Hypothesis:
The parts of a frog will look different.
Materials:
Gloves, safety glasses, Foldscope, slides, knife, cover slips, clear fingernail polish, toothpicks, tweezers
Steps:
The frog was caught in the trenches outside of the school and returned to the classroom. The frog was killed with a sharp object. Skin was removed from the frogs belly and back. Dissection continued and many organs were removed including the heart, intestines, tympanic membrane, stomach, liver, eyes, and spinal cord. A small amount of each organ was placed on a slide and covered with a cover slip. A thin layer of clear fingernail polish was painted the edges of the slide and left to dry. Each slide was placed under the Foldscope (using a camera phone) and each frog organ was observed.
Conclusion:
Each frog part looked different under the Foldscope (different colors and shapes).
