 Clip of water from Turtle Pond searching for organisms around algae. Seemed to have found one go by and turn around back through.  Seems to be the same organism.  Given that the magnification was 140x, the organism was around ~20 micrometers long.  Sample obtained 4/11/2019 from the Turtle Ponds at Caltech by using a cup to scoop a bit of water out of the pond.   #caltechbi1

  You can see the cellular wall in between the plant cells of this pink petal.  This specimen was taken from the vine bearing columns in the front of the Beckman Institute at the Caltech Institute of Technology.  The specimen was obtain at approximately 6pm on May 31st.  It was obtained by plucking a petal and soaking it in water before putting it on a glass slide.

  This is a dead ant.  The line like figure southeast of the big brown specimen is the ant’s leg.  This ant was a very small one, maybe about 3 mm in length.  The specimen was obtained by finding it on some tile in front of the Beckman Institute at the Caltech Institute of Technology at 6:30 pm pm May 31st.

  This is the wing of a fly taken from turtle pond on Caltech’s campus around 4pm on May 31st.  The fly itself had already passed on.  It was found on the edge of a pond where turtles can be found sitting.  You can see the branching structure of the wing and the transparency of the  wing itself.
