Enroute Padum we were stopped on the road by 2 school kids saying HVT, HVT at Nyerak Valley which is a remote, stunning part of the larger Zanskar Valley in Ladakh. This came as a surprise for us as this place famous for its dramatic gorge and isolation, had a school and the Principal and teachers came down from the village offering us tea and biscuits. Zanskar Valley itself is a high-altitude semi-desert known for rugged beauty, monasteries, the mighty Zanskar River, and challenging adventure treks and rafting.
The view was far from what can be described in words, hence adding many of the pictures here for reference. Well what with the kids excited to know more about the microscope we held a small workshop here itself on the road for these wonderful people.
Thus began our workshop journey below the scorching sun, the kids happy to marvel on the cells and to treat us with tea, the teachers excited to see that an 8 gm paper marvel could help them elevate the level of intellect in their school. The conversations were in depth, the meeting was brief but even in that time frame we taught them how to make paper slides and not be worried about not having glass slides. Thanks team Himalayan Volunteer Tourism Foundation we had so much to learn from the Zanskar trip.
