Currently studying in the Modern School, ECNCR-Delhi, Vismay Anup is an amateur observer and an aspiring international relations consultant. He loves learning about and studying all sorts of organisms- whether it be microbial or not. Though starting slowly, he is excited to observe as much as possible and learn from other's findings as well. If given free rein, Vismay would be found in one of 6 places: His room, the library, the bookshop, the airport, the zoo and the nearest bio lab.

Hi everyone! Today was my second day in Exploring the Microcosm! Before entering the class, I was super excited thinking about what I would see today, and the day didn't disappoint.
Using the Foldscope 2.0, today I observed the microscopic composition of a potato, and I am proud of some of the pics I clicked. In this post, I will be sharing my observations of the Potato Rinds (Skin), of all three magnifications. They were as follows:
50x
Roundish cells which were compacted tightly together on the surface of the skin.
Many air bubbles were prevalent around the sample.
Certain groups of cells were darker than others (probably overlapping or a variety of colours).

Colour Variation observed previously was still present
Certain cells had thicker cell walls than others (Irregularity in Morphology)
Air bubbles and traces of Cello tape was still present

Among all three samples, the common occurrence, i.e., i.e colour variation among specimen cells, was still observed
Thick and sometimes double cell walls were observed
Cells seemed to be roundish but irregularly shaped, with different sizes

These results (especially the colour variation one) really fascinated me and encouraged me to dive more.
Following this post will be a part 2, listing my observations on potato flesh samples. I am really excited to share those results and images with you.
Regards,
Vismay
