After observing the Hibiscus I moved onto the Frangipani, in this one the Stamen wasn't visible, so I had to peel open the flower to get it. I thought one would be somewhat similar to the Hibiscus — but what showed up under the foldscope was a completely different story. Observations: At 50x, a long dark cylindrical structure dominated the view — solid, almost like a tiny log, surrounded by faint cellular debris. At 140x, the structure revealed more detail — a thick-walled tube with a pointed tip, likely a pollen tube, with fine translucent strands extending from it. At 340x, the surrounding tissue broke into scattered rings and bubble-like cells, giving the whole slide an almost otherworldly look. Frangipani smells like one of the most delicate things in the world. Under the foldscope, it looks nothing like that.
