On Day 3 we observed some Hibiscus Pollen samples. Creating the sample for this was especially hard as it was at such a microscopic level, so you never knew if you got the pollen or not. It took me about 45 minutes to get the pollen, but the result was definitely worth it. Observations: At 50x, several bright yellow spherical grains were scattered across the slide, standing out sharply against the pale background — impossible to miss. At 140x, one grain took center stage. Up close it had a rough, textured surface enclosed in what looked like a transparent membrane, almost like a tiny sun. Turns out the thing responsible for half the world's allergies is actually kind of beautiful up close.
