Potatoes are so ordinary that we rarely give them a second thought. But when I mounted a thin scraping of potato peel onto a foldscope slide, that familiarity completely disappeared. Observations: The cells formed a dense, irregular mosaic pattern with visible net-like boundaries across the peel. Dark brown patches were scattered throughout, likely pigment deposits or oxidation. At higher magnifications, fine hair-like structures appeared along the edges — completely invisible to the naked eye. The surface had a waxy, almost rocky texture up close, hinting at the protective outer layer of the potato. Something as humble as a potato peel holds a whole hidden world — you'd never guess it just looking at one in your kitchen.
