The scent of pomelo flowers has long been a signature gift of spring, especially during February and March in Hanoi. Pomelo flowers grow in clusters , with each cluster containing 2 to10 blossoms . Each blossom has 4 to 5 petals , with a central pistil and nectar chamber surrounded by numerous stamens and yellow pollen.
Biological Characteristics
Unique Structure: Pomelo blossoms have 4 to 5 white-yellowish petals , measuring approximately 1.5 to 3.5 cm in length. They emit a distinctive fragrance and grow either solitarily or in clusters of 2 - 10 flowers at the leaf axils, sometimes forming larger clusters of 10 to 15 flowers at the branch tips. The flower stalk and calyx are covered in fine hairs. The stamens are white, prominent, and grouped in sets of 4 to 5 . The superior ovary contains multiple ovules, which develop into fruit after fertilization.
